A sentient human being can understand that the self analysing of ones memories come with voices; be it with ones own narrative or filled in ones that ones own imagination has conjured.
A sentient human being should know it is impossible to answer “do you hear voices” perfectly.
A sentient human being also can probably tell that ‘medication’ for this ‘infliction’ is received and given as a sedative.
When treated like an animal, it is hard to act as anything other than that.
Another solution maybe required.
