The Feeling of Grief

The Feeling of Grief

The Feeling of Grief – A short poem to describe a wash of feelings that can only be described as grief.

(This is a summation of a few things I am still grieving about, namely past loves, loves that will/are pass/ing, and the fact that one day I won’t be here to remember any of it)

Going on is like watching myself being erased from your life,

Everyday a pill that turns my memory to bone white.

I’m buried under ground,

Where I cannot hear a sound.

But all I can see is your sight,

Now so obliviating, it’s a blinding sunlight.

My memories are gone,

Even the ones that didn’t belong.

It feels like my soul has turned cold,

Like watching a crow pick an eyeball from a skull.

The place I could be,

Has been drowned by the ocean and sea.

And now, I can’t breathe,

I am nothing, but the feeling of grief.

That has left me an empty sheath,

So, my mind goes back to sleep and dreams.
