I Dream

I Dream

[Written: 2025-03-05]

I dreamt I had died last night,

As I sped into the darkness I did not feel fright.

Until I got trapped in Death’s eye sight,

Feeling crushed by the unrelenting grip of his minds eye.

Then I heard a voice and saw a bright light,

The voice I knew as God said “Everything will be alright.

But child, why are you fighting my fight?

It is not necessary to stand between the dark night and light white.”

I responded the only way I could with my mind in quick flight,

“God, I feel the pressure of the world and it’s taking it’s toll.

My heart has been battered, all that’s left in its place is a hole,

My mind has broken and I can’t hold onto my soul.

I have felt Death breath down my neck since the day I was born,

Every second an infinity that’s over way before long.

Everything that I own reshapes what I know,

Every experience I have dragging me further from home.

I feel I have died so many times, but I can’t rest at the end of the road,

When I try to move I feel choked and froze.

Please help me understand why there is nowhere safe left for me to go?”

The voice was silent and the light flickered and started to fade.

Then clear as day,

I could see the light and with no further delay.

“Son,” said the voice I could hear,

“You do not have to fear.

I am not God who protects us all, I am your father,

I am a man like you, not anything more special.

We breath the same breath that belongs to the world,

It’s present in every animal and bird, boy or girl.

It’s scary sometimes for a boy to look into a man’s eye’s,

But, even scarier still to see pain and fear in the sky’s and son’s eye’s.

When you see dark my son, listen to your breath,

You can follow it home right back to you and the world will do the rest.

Imagination is a powerful thing, but your not dead,

Your just a little stuck in someone else’s mind who’s a little stuck too.

But, between me and you,

There is beauty in freeing each other is what I have found to be true.

It is what has helped us survive, thrive and feel alive,

To live as we are,

Is a gift from the stars.

It feels like heaven watching you,

And a blessing learning what you teach too.
